SFTP Reports
Learn how Forage generates and delivers daily CSV reports via SFTP. Includes report types, formatting standards, and setup instructions for merchants and platforms.
Forage provides automated reports in CSV format to assist merchants and platforms in tracking transactions and payouts. The reports are generated daily at 10:00 PM UTC and securely transferred via SFTP.
This guide explains the available reports, their structure, and how they are delivered.
CSV Report Types
You’ll receive one of three report types depending on your business setup. Click on a report type below to learn about the details shown in that report.
- Merchant (Charging to Platform) CSV Report – When the platform covers Forage fees.
- Merchant (Charging to Merchant) CSV Report – When the merchant is directly responsible for Forage fees.
- Platform CSV Report – For platforms to track their merchant payouts and revenue share (if applicable).
Report Formatting Standards
All reports adhere to the following standards:
- Consistent column names are used across all reports.
- Some fields may be left blank for efficiency (for example, instead of showing "0.00").
- Reports are customizable, but formatting is simplified.
Report Delivery Process
Our report delivery process ensures you receive your CSV reports securely and on a fixed schedule.
How to get started with CSV reports
If you're ready to receive CSV reports, reach out to your Forage contact to start the process.
Here's how the report delivery process works.
1. Client Sign-Up
Merchants sign up for our reporting service to receive automated reports.
2. SFTP Setup
Merchants can either:
- Provide their own SFTP server for report delivery (ensuring we have both write and rename permissions) or
- Request that we set up an SFTP server for them.
The SFTP server acts as a secure location where reports are stored.
3. File Delivery Process
- Reports are generated daily at 10 PM UTC.
- The report is first saved as a temporary file during upload:
"filename.tmp"
. - Once the upload is complete, the file is renamed
"filename.csv"
to ensure merchants only access entirely written reports. - Reports are uploaded to the folders you choose on your SFTP server.
